In 1825, John Jameson and William Jameson founded the Midleton Distillery in the town of Midleton, County Cork, Ireland. The distillery is currently owned by Pernod Ricard and has been operating since its founding.
The tour of this iconic Irish whiskey distillery begins with a detailed history lesson on how Irish whiskey became so renowned around the world. It then takes visitors through their process from start to finish: choosing grain crops; growing them on their own farmlands; milling them into grist (ground up malt); mixing these mashes with water then fermenting them; distilling off alcohols at least twice before aging in oak casks for anywhere between 3 years and 25 years (the older ones being more expensive). You’ll also get access to an interactive museum where you can learn more about how they make each batch unique based on its own characteristics such as age or type of cask used during aging process etc., plus lots more fun facts about Irish Whiskey!
